David Econopouly Ex-teacher, jack of all trades, web stuff Carrboro, arrived last time in 1997 from The Bahamas, Born in NY, grew up in Greece I completed Blue Winds in 1986 and sailed to The Bahamas from NY to see if she would really float. Taught down there for 6 years and sailed The Abacos for the 7th. During the last year I met a fisherman who told me a crazy story about some old Spanish Artifacts he found. I decided to find out just how crazy the story was and so spent two years researching the artifacts...he was right...the Platinum Cannon Shipwreck is indeed a strange story.... presently working on a book about it and trying to raise money for a documentary.... While maintaining a small custom painting and repair business I also work on the personal, creative piece of life by keeping a regular studio schedule, contuining my work on drawings,collages, etchings and paintings.I can also be found playing rhythm guitar and singing in the musical configuration called Loud Tzu and the festival legendary "Cutting up Gumby."

There has been a renaissance in gem cutting in the last decade, re-creating an art form that for most of this century has been exiled to the realms of engineering and craft. Art in stone is being done now that surpasses all previous epochs. It is an exciting time to be involved in gem cutting...I have won a number of national and international awards for my work. I feel lucky to feed myself with what I love.
