On Wednesday September 1, David Econopouly and Steven Fishman embarked on an evening outing to watch the Durham Bulls play the Norfolk Tides. It was a fairly typical game... with a couple of errors, a few home runs, some great defensive plays and a bottom of the 10th home run to clinch the victory for the Bulls. I decided to put together a pictorial oil painting series to share the action with the rest of the world....

"A View from Our Paid Seats"

We sat down the right field line right in front of the bull pen. We watch Munez warm up. He had an incredible fastball and we thought he was surely the closer. He went into the game in the top of the 7th and gave up 5 runs in a third of an inning... a bad night or a bad pitcher...hard to say....

"Zooming in From Our Seats"

We were close enough to see the action, but not too close to have zero reaction time hard hit foul balls....

"The Mighty Strike"

What is there to say.... I had a perfect shot as the batter before him hit a towering home run...but the disk malfunctioned... so I had to settle for catching a strike on the next guy....

"The Closer who Didn't"

Munez looked unhittable in the bull pen, but gave up 5 runs in 1/3 of an inning. We did our math and figured out that if this was his first game his ERA would have sky-rocketed to 135.00.

"A View from Carrboro"

We were in a quiet and unenergetic section so in the 7th we decided to take a stroll around the park and see what the game looked like from other vantage points. We went out to Center field first where the bathrooms were. In the time that Steve used the bathroom the score went from 5-0 Bulls to 5-5.

"The Right Field Line"

This is widely recognized by myself as my best piece of work..... something about the yellow in the foreground makes it so.....

"The Best Seats in The House"

These were the best seats.... you felt like you were right in the game and could see all the movement on the ball.... We watched a couple of outs in the 9th before we strolled down the left field line to return for the final inning....

"The View From Left"

We found great seats down the left line.... so we sat out the 9th here.....

"The Umpire"

These are Steve's work. He was set on getting a good shot of the umpires.... and he finally did...I think...

"The Other Umpire"

This was the first base umpire.... he didn't cooperate with Steve... but eventually he let his guard down....
